Teaching Philosophy
Hi my name is Amy Creager and I'm a Utah State student studying to be an elementary school teacher.
I'm loving every minute of Logan....

Ok but here we go, lets talk about what I think about teaching.
Why do I want to become a teacher?
I want to become a teacher because this is a job where I know I can make a difference. In one of my classes last year we watched a video and often talked about what can happen if children have a teacher who really cares and really makes an effort to help them learn. This is what convinced me that teaching is the place for me. There are so many children who need someone to give them confidence, who can help them understand what they are capable of achieving, push them to their limits and will help them know that they can succeed Someone give them a safe haven, guide them, protect them and who will be more then just a teacher during the hours of 8-3. Mostly they need someone who will love them! I want to be working with children in an environment I love; I want to be the one who makes a difference.
What's the Ideal Grade I would like to teach?
Definitely 2nd grade which is great because I am currently in a second grade class for part of my Elementary Education program. Really any where from Kindergarten to 3rd grade would be fantastic!
What is the plan for teaching?
My plan for teaching is to first graduate from the K-6 program from Utah State. Then I would love to jump right into teaching. I want to make sure to use the tactics I have learned in my classes to help me teach to the best of my abilities.
*Here are somethings that I will do:
- Focus on each child's abilities, needs and interests
- keep the children active (no one wants to sit still forever)
- Engage the children in what I am teaching by asking questions, playing games, providing visuals and providing opportunities for exploration
- I won't be afraid to act silly, sing songs or make funny noises as long is it helps my children learn
- Mostly just have an open heart, never expect things to run perfectly and always have a new outlook on teaching.
Mostly I just love pretty much everything about teaching!
